We were pleased to be approached recently by Cloud Star, a California-based company producing all-natural treats for dogs, to do a review of some of their snacks for dogs.
First, we have nothing but great things to say about working with this company. From their professional, polite, prompt, and humourous correspondence, to keeping us apprised of the shipping details, to their speedy international shipment and confirmation of delivery of their product to us, we had a positive and enjoyable experience dealing with Cloud Star.
As a further example of their consideration of us, they substituted some non-fish-ingredient dog treats in their package for us, as we have a serious fish and seafood allergy in our family and need to maintain a fish-free home environment. Kudos to the company for this accommodation and customer service!
We decided to start our, or rather Juno’s, product review the moment the package arrived. The following dog treats were included:
- Oven Baked Grain Free Buddy Biscuits (Rotisserie Chicken Flavor)
- Soft & Chewy Grain Free Buddy Biscuits (Home Style Peanut Butter Flavor AND Smooth Aged Cheddar Flavor)
- Dynamo Dog Functional Treats – Tummy (Pumpkin & Ginger Flavor)
We captured the entire package-opening process on film, particularly since Juno has been known to showcase some of her cutest, most hilarious behaviours at the most unexpected moments, treat-openings being no exception.
While our method wasn’t what you might call scientific and we did not conduct a classic randomized, controlled-for-treat-order-and-any-number-of-other-possible-variables study (can you tell we studied Psychology?), the results were nevertheless telling.
We opened the package and then each of the treat bags one at a time, and gave her a few samples of each…just to make sure of her response.
Juno has been known to reject certain treats. For example, she is rather selective in the rawhides she chooses, even when they all come from the same bag. If you offer her a rawhide she doesn’t want, she’ll give you a look like you’re crazy, let out a huff, and glance at the bag and then back at you, as if saying, “Nice try, but let’s see what else is in there.”
In this case, however, there was no rejection.
Juno LOVED these Cloud Star treats!
While she clearly had a favourite (the Smooth Aged Cheddar Flavor), which you saw in the video when she stealthily made off with the entire bag…she happily gobbled each of the treats that Cloud Star sent us. Juno’s preference for the cheese-flavoured variety is not entirely surprising given her ability to detect and come running at the slightest sound of a cheese wrapper opening, and her propensity for storing said cheese on her hips.
We usually don’t stray too far from Juno’s established diet (we like the fact that it keeps her digestive system in exceptional working order), but these treats have become a novel addition to her menu. She seems pleased with the new variety.
The treats are healthy, and Juno enjoys them…plus they entice her to break from her general mischief and stubborness and run back in from the backyard when called. In Pavlovian fashion, we clang her treat jar, and she seems excited that there’s something new in there and comes running. And while we have new treats, we realized that we have an old camera…sorry for the quality – it might be time for us to upgrade. (Let us know what cameras you’re using in the comments).
We highly recommend these products and the company that makes them! And, as you’ve seen, Juno has added her canine-palate approval.
Also, we think Cloud Star’s slogan of “Wag More, Bark Less” epitomizes our experience with them…
To the team at Cloud Star, thanks so much for getting in touch with us – it was a pleasure to do this review for you, and we’d love to help you out again in the future!
Have you (or rather, your pooch) tried out Cloud Star’s line of treats? Do they love them too? Which bag would your dog be most likely to walk off with? Let us know in the comments!
We received these products free from Cloud Star, but the opinions expressed here are all our own.
