Unhinged: Or What Happens To Labrador Retrievers On Snow Days

Did you hear the one about what happens to Labrador Retrievers on snow days? They go for walks, just like every other day!

School buses are cancelled, stores are closing early, and workplaces are sending people home midday, but we’ll be out for our twice-daily walks. Because, if I were to stay inside with my Labrador Retriever on a snow day, we’d both go crazy. We’d be entering a state I like to call Juno Unhinged. It looks like this:

Juno Unhinged

At least we know that sunny days are right around the corner!

On days like that, Juno looks like this:

It’s still unhinged. But it’s warm, and requires less equipment.

So, to my fellow snow day dog walkers, I salute you. Hey, why don’t we salute each other when we pass in the snowy streets? A quick head nod, a leashed gloved hand wave, a hello neither of us can hear over the wind?

And to those of you without dogs, driving by, we’ll wave at you too! We’re all in this snow day business together.

We love the snow….but we did not get any here in Portland, Oregon this winter…Boo Hoo.
So, we put our snow dream on hold and walk and play anyway!

Winter has overstayed its welcome! We’re looking forward to brighter days at the dog beach as well.

Yes, these transition seasons certainly seem to challenge our human patience. Dogs don’t care either way!

Oh I WISH we had snow where we live!!! My dogs have never seen snow and I think they’d have a blast. I love that smile of recognition I get from other people walking their dogs when the weather is foul. I feel such a sense of community with other dog owners when that happens.

Oh I could send you some! We like sharing and there’s enough to go around…the world 😉 I’m sure your dogs would love snow! We’ll never forget Juno’s first snowstorm; it was epic and sadly pre- good camera phones.

What fun to walk with a lab in the snow! We had a yellow lab some years ago, and he loved the snow. He also loved to swim even in the early autumn when the water must have been frigid. With his thick skin, he didn’t care. Thanks for joining FitDog Friday!

Yup. To a Lab, snow day is like any other day except its White! And a little more fun.

A little snow of bad weather is no reason to not exercise. I know, easy for us to say from SoCal, but its true.

Thanks for joining the blog hop and come back each week!
